Our Local Area

The area around Wave Crest offers some of the most beautiful landscapes and seascapes in Ireland. The gentle hills of South Kerry roll down to the seashore which is a mix of golden sandy beaches and rugged shorelines. There is an incredible choice of stunning beaches nearby. From the long golden sands at the blue flag beach at Derrynane to the pretty little beaches of Rath, White Strand and Silver Strand.

Wave Crest boasts an idyllic south-facing, coastal location nestling between hills and sea. The site is friendly, informal and family-run with unparalleled panoramic sea views. The picturesque waterfront site offers the perfect base for a relaxing holiday with friendly and helpful staff.

Located mid-way on the world famous Ring of Kerry Driving Route, Wave Crest makes the ideal base for either long or short stays. Surrounded on all sides by spectacular scenery and unspoilt beaches, Wave Crest is unrivaled in its location.

Wave Crest is located in a Gaeltacht area which is an area where the Irish language is brought alive. There are just two Gaeltacht areas in Kerry – one on the Dingle Peninsula (Leithinis Chorca Dhuibhne) and the other is the Iveragh Gaeltacht – which includes Derrynane. There is a wealth of heritage and tradition attached to the Irish language: literature, music and culture.

There are restaurants, tea rooms and a hotel in the immediate area, each with a very good selection of locally produced food. There are also traditional pubs with live music and food. Or travel further afield to sample some of the fabulous restaurants of the Iveragh Peninsula.

Wave Crest is ideally situated to explore further into the Kerry area. Take a drive on the world famous Ring of Kerry driving route which encompasses some of the most stunning scenery in the world – lakes, mountains, waterfalls, colourful villages and fabulous seascapes.
